Digital Storytelling

Everyone, young and old, has stories and memories and experiences worth telling — for ourselves, our children and future generations. Our lives are unique and deserve to be preserved — not as "heavy duty memoirs" at the end of our life — but a collection of stories and snippets of thought — whether they be whimsical, heart-wrenching, reflective or entertaining — shared throughout our life.

The mission of this project is to educate you about the power of life stories; empower you to celebrate and preserve your stories before they're lost and support you in accomplishing that goal through a variety of methods.

All of the resources mentioned below can be found at:

Digital Storytelling Tools

Step 1: Familiarize yourself with iMovie through the powerpoint tutorial. You will create a practice iMovie about yourself.

Step 2: Check out the digital story examples to help get those creative juices flowing. For each of the examples, copy the following in your interactive notebook:

-Name

-What was the story about?

-Did you enjoy the story?

-What did you learn?

-Were the images used interesting?

-Did the transitions and/or music make the story more interesting? How?

Step 3: Brainstorm a topic that you want to explore in your digital story using the graphic organizer. Copy the graphic organizer in your interactive notebook and fill it out with ideas for your digital story.

Step 4: Use the storyboard worksheet to help you organize your ideas and plan your digital story.
